A Grand Finals winner of the 2020 Met Competition, Hoskins has continued to triumph on the competition scene: he was awarded with the second prize at Placido Domingo\u2019s Operalia Competition, was the recipient of the Extraordinary Artistic Promise Award at the Lotte Lenya Competition, and placed first in the National Opera Association Competition.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2025-26 season, Jonah Hoskins begins his two-year tenure as a member of the Hamburg State Opera\u2019s ensemble, debuting as Ferrando in Mozart\u2019s <strong><em>Cos\u00ec fan tutte<\/em><\/strong> and later appearing as Almaviva in Tatjana G\u00fcrbaca\u2019s new production of Rossini\u2019s <strong><em>Il barbiere di Siviglia.<\/em><\/strong> Returning to Berlin, the tenor debuts the role of Fenton in Verdi\u2019s <strong><em>Falstaff <\/em><\/strong>with the Berlin State Opera and makes his house debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Lindoro in Rolando Villaz\u00f3n\u2019s new staging of Rossini\u2019s <strong><em>L&#8217;italiana in Algeri<\/em><\/strong>. Further engagements include the role of Ernesto in <strong><em>Don Pasquale<\/em><\/strong> in his first performances for Op\u00e9ra de Toulon, followed by his highly anticipated company debut with London\u2019s Royal Opera House as Tonio in <strong><em>La fille du r\u00e9giment<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Last season, Jonah Hoskins made acclaimed debuts with the Bayerische Staatsoper as Don Ramiro in Rossini\u2019s <strong><em>La cenerentola<\/em><\/strong> and with the Berlin State Opera as Arbace in Mozart\u2019s <strong><em>Idomeneo<\/em><\/strong>. The tenor returned to Semperoper Dresden as Almaviva in <strong><em>Il barbiere di Siviglia<\/em><\/strong>, a role he reprised with the Glyndebourne Festival. He was heard as Ernesto in <strong><em>Don Pasquale<\/em><\/strong> at the Mondavi Center under the auspices of Festival Napa Valley and performed the role of Nemorino in <strong><em>L&#8217;elisir d&#8217;amore<\/em><\/strong> with Florida Grand Opera and Manitoba Opera. On the concert stage, Hoskins sang Mozart\u2019s<strong><em> Requiem<\/em><\/strong> alongside soprano Hanna-Elisabeth M\u00fcller and the Camerata Salzburg led by Dame Jane Glover, and joined soprano Fatma Said in the annual New Year Concert of the S\u00e4chsische Staatskapelle Dresden and Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen under the baton of Karina Canellakis.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of recent seasons includes his role debut as Arnold in a new production of Rossini\u2019s <strong><em>Guillaume Tell <\/em><\/strong>with Theater St. Gallen in Switzerland. With Paris\u2019 Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Champs-Elys\u00e9es and Op\u00e9ra National de Bordeaux, he saw his first performances of Nadir in Bizet\u2019s <strong><em>Les p\u00eacheurs de perles<\/em><\/strong>. He made his San Francisco Opera company debut in the role of Nemorino in <strong><em>L&#8217;elisir d&#8217;amore<\/em><\/strong>, a role he reprised for the Santa Fe Opera. In concert, Hoskins presented a solo recital in collaboration with pianist William Woodard for DC Vocal Arts at the Kennedy Center and was the tenor soloist in <strong><em>Carmina Burana<\/em><\/strong> at Theater St. Gallen.<\/p>\n<p>Hoskins debuted the role of Nemorino in <strong><em>L&#8217;elisir d&#8217;amore<\/em><\/strong> at the Metropolitan Opera, where he has also been heard as the Dean of Faculty in Massenet\u2019s <strong><em>Cendrillon<\/em><\/strong> (presented in English as <em>Cinderella<\/em>) for his company debut. With Dresden\u2019s Semperoper, he made his European debut as Chevalier Belfiore in Rossini\u2019s <strong><em>Il viaggio a Reims<\/em><\/strong>. Additional recent performances include his first outing as Almaviva in <strong><em>Il barbiere di Siviglia<\/em><\/strong> at Pensacola Opera, and for the Santa Fe Opera he has appeared as Don Curzio in <strong><em>Le nozze di Figaro<\/em><\/strong>, Flute in <strong><em>A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream<\/em><\/strong>, and the Sailor in <strong><em>Tristan and Isolde<\/em>. <\/strong>In concert, Hoskins was a soloist in Beethoven\u2019s <strong><em>Missa Solemnis<\/em><\/strong> with the Orchestra of Bard College at the Fisher Center in New York, under the baton of Leon Botstein.<\/p>\n<p>Born in 1996 in Saratoga Springs, Utah, Hoskins earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Brigham Young University. He subsequently was a participant in the distinguished Apprentice Artist programs of the Santa Fe Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera, as well as Houston Grand Opera\u2019s Young Artist Vocal Academy.
