Smith is lauded for her \u201crich, humane soprano\u201d (Opera Canada) and \u201cconvincing and poignant\u201d portrayals (Boston Musical Intelligencer). Currently in her second year of San Francisco Opera\u2019s prestigious Adler Fellowship program, the young soprano performs this season as Donna Anna in <em><strong>Don Giovanni<\/strong><\/em> with Opera Philadelphia and as Micaela in San Francisco Opera\u2019s \u201cCarmen Encounter\u201d. Last season in San Francisco, she made her mainstage debut as the Voice of the Falcon in Strauss\u2019 <em><strong>Die Frau ohne Schatten,<\/strong><\/em> followed by appearances as First Lady in Mozart\u2019s <em><strong>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/strong><\/em> and the role of Chrisann Brennan in Mason Bates and Mark Campbell\u2019s <em><strong>The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>An alumna of the Merola Opera Program and the Curtis Institute of Music, Smith has performed as Marguerite (<em><strong>Faust<\/strong><\/em>), The Governess (<em><strong>Turn of the Screw<\/strong><\/em>), Leila (<em><strong>Les p\u00eacheurs de perles<\/strong><\/em>), and Margarita Xirgu (<em><strong>Ainadamar<\/strong><\/em>)<em><strong>.<\/strong><\/em> Additional roles include Cathleen in Vaughan Williams\u2019 <em><strong>Riders to the Sea<\/strong><\/em>, First Witch in <em><strong>Dido and Aeneas<\/strong><\/em>, and Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti\u2019s <em><strong>The Medium<\/strong><\/em><strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Olivia Smith has received recognition from Houston Grand Opera\u2019s Eleanor McCollum Competition, where she received both the Ana Mar\u00eda Mart\u00ednez Encouragement Award and the Online Viewers\u2019 Choice Award.
