She made her auspicious house debut in 2022 at the Vienna State Opera as Kostelni\u010dka in <strong><em>Jen\u016ffa<\/em><\/strong> under the baton of Tom\u00e1\u0161 Hanus, earning wide critical acclaim for her commanding singing and emotionally engaging portrayal.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2025\/26 season, Weissov\u00e1 returns to Theater St. Gallen for a revival of <strong><em>Elektra<\/em><\/strong>, singing the title role under the baton of Modestas Pitrenas. Following a reprisal of her signature role of Kostelni\u010dka in <strong><em>Jen\u016ffa<\/em><\/strong> at the Latvian National Opera in Riga, the soprano travels to Seoul when she makes her highly anticipated company debut with the Korean National Opera in <strong><em>Tristan und Isolde<\/em><\/strong> conducted by Jaap van Zweden. Returning to the Vienna State Opera, Weissov\u00e1 appears as the Foreign Princess in <strong><em>Rusalka<\/em><\/strong>, performing alongside Piotr Beczala. Over the course of the season, she is featured in leading roles at the National Theatre Ko\u0161ice in Slovakia, including <strong><em>Tosca<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Macbeth<\/em><\/strong>, and the title role in a new production of <strong><em>Turandot<\/em><\/strong>. On the concert stage, Weissov\u00e1 joins the Bamberger Symphoniker under Jakub Hr\u016f\u0161a for a concert performance of <strong><em>Jen\u016ffa<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Originally a mezzo-soprano, Weissov\u00e1 successfully transitioned to the dramatic soprano repertoire in 2018 with her debut as Giorgetta in <strong><em>Il tabarro<\/em><\/strong> at the National Theatre Bratislava. Since then, she has built an impressive repertoire of leading roles, including <strong><em>Elektra<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Tosca<\/em><\/strong>, Milada (<strong><em>Dalibor<\/em><\/strong>), <strong><em>Libu\u0161e<\/em><\/strong>, Isolde (<strong><em>Tristan und Isolde<\/em><\/strong>), Abigaille (<strong><em>Nabucco<\/em><\/strong>), <strong><em>Turandot<\/em><\/strong>, Minnie (<strong><em>La fanciulla del West<\/em><\/strong>), and Ariadne (<strong><em>Ariadne auf Naxos<\/em><\/strong>). Her repertoire also includes notable roles such as Foreign Princess (<strong><em>Rusalka<\/em><\/strong>), Ortrud (<strong><em>Lohengrin<\/em><\/strong>), Amneris (<strong><em>Aida<\/em><\/strong>), Azucena <strong><em>(Il trovatore<\/em><\/strong>), Ulrica (<strong><em>Un ballo in Maschera<\/em><\/strong>), Martinka (<strong><em>The Kiss<\/em><\/strong>), Rossweisse (<strong><em>Die Walk\u00fcre<\/em><\/strong>), and Fata Morgana (<strong><em>The Love for Three Oranges<\/em><\/strong>). Her performances have established her as a compelling interpreter of Czech and Slavic repertoire as well as the great Verdi and Wagner heroines.<\/p>\n<p>Weissov\u00e1\u2019s career is closely associated with one of her signature roles, Kostelni\u010dka in <strong><em>Jen\u016ffa<\/em><\/strong>, which she has sung to critical acclaim at the Vienna State Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg, Welsh National Opera, Theater Freiburg, the Latvian National Opera, and at leading houses in Rennes, Limoges, and Reims.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside her operatic performances, Weissov\u00e1 is also active on the concert stage. She has appeared at the Jihlava Music Festival with Wagner\u2019s <strong><em>Wesendonck Lieder<\/em><\/strong> and Isolde\u2019s Death from <strong><em>Tristan und Isolde<\/em><\/strong>, and performed Verdi\u2019s <strong><em>Requiem<\/em><\/strong>, Beethoven\u2019s <strong><em>Missa solemnis<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with major orchestras across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Eli\u0161ka Weissov\u00e1 graduated from the Brno Conservatory and the Prague Academy of Music under the tutelage of Ren\u00e9 Tu\u010dek. She has won several prizes at international singing competitions, including first prize at the Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary in 2004, and third prize at the Mikul\u00e1\u0161 Schneider-Trnavsk\u00fd Singing Competition in Slovakia in 2006.
