After graduating from the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Paris, the young mezzo-soprano made her debut at Op\u00e9ra National de Paris in Michael Haneke\u2019s production of <strong><em>Don Giovanni<\/em><\/strong> (Zerlina) under the direction of Philippe Jordan. Since then, Arquez has established herself on the international stage, performing in leading opera houses worldwide such as the Metropolitan Opera, the Teatro alla Scala, the Op\u00e9ra National de Paris, London\u2019s Royal Opera House, the Berlin State Opera, Theater an der Wien and the Vienna State Opera. Celebrated early in her career with a 1st prize at the Wigmore Hall\/Independent Opera Fellowship competition and a nomination for \u201cR\u00e9v\u00e9lation Lyrique\u201d at the Victoires de la Musique, she released her acclaimed debut album \u201cArdente Flamme\u201d on Deutsche Grammophon in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Ga\u00eblle Arquez is set to embark on a diverse and exciting 2025\/26 season. The mezzo-soprano makes her highly anticipated debut at Grand Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Gen\u00e8ve as Isabella in Julien Chavaz\u2019 new production of <strong><em>L\u2019Italiana in Algeri<\/em><\/strong> under the baton of Michele Spotti. She sees her first performances at The Greek National Opera in her signature role of <strong><em>Carmen <\/em><\/strong>in Romain Gilbert\u2019s new production of the Bizet opera. She returns to The Royal Theatre of La Monnaie in Brussels as Idamante in Calixto Bieito\u2019s production of <strong><em>Idomeneo<\/em><\/strong> and at the Royal Opera of Versailles she sees performances as Dido in Purcell\u2019s <strong><em>Dido and Aeneas<\/em><\/strong> and in the title role of Rossini\u2019s <strong><em>La Cenerentola &#8211;<\/em><\/strong> the role she later reprises at Op\u00e9ra National de Paris.<\/p>\n<p>On the concert stage, the mezzo-soprano makes her highly anticipated Japan debut with the NHK Symphony orchestra and St\u00e9phane Den\u00e8ve in Berlioz\u2019 <strong><em>Les Nuits d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9<\/em><\/strong> in Tokyo. She returns to Monaco to perform Ravel\u2019s <strong><em>Scheherazade<\/em><\/strong> with Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo under Alondra de la Parra. With the Oviedo Filarmon\u00eda the mezzo can be heard in Rossini\u2019s <strong><em>Stabat Mater <\/em><\/strong>under the baton of Lucas Mac\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>Additional career highlights include Idamante in <strong><em>Idomeneo<\/em><\/strong> under the direction of Ren\u00e9 Jacobs at the Theater an der Wien, a production which was also taken to the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York in 2016; <strong><em>Falstaff<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>L\u2019Incoronazione di Poppea <\/em><\/strong>at the Op\u00e9ra de Paris; <strong><em>Radamisto<\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0 <strong><em>Teseo <\/em><\/strong>at the Frankfurt Opera; <strong><em>Cos\u00ec fan tutte <\/em><\/strong>at the Bayerische Staatsoper; <strong><em>Castor et Pollux <\/em><\/strong>at Komische Opera Berlin; and <strong><em>Cendrillon <\/em><\/strong>at Op\u00e9ra de Lille.<\/p>\n<p>Ga\u00eblle Arquez has earned international acclaim for the breadth and versatility of her repertoire, with particular distinction in her signature role of <strong><em>Carmen<\/em><\/strong>. She first took on the part in Barrie Kosky\u2019s celebrated production for Oper Frankfurt, which also marked her debut at the Royal Opera House. This success quickly led to appearances at the Bregenzer Festspiele in Kasper Holten\u2019s production. Since then, she has performed the role at leading houses including Bayerische Staatsoper, the Berlin State Opera, Op\u00e9ra Comique, Opera National de Paris, Teatro Real Madrid and in celebrated productions at the Edinburgh Festival and on a European tour under Ren\u00e9 Jacobs. Most recently she made her house debut of <strong><em>Carmen<\/em><\/strong> at Teatro dell&#8217;Opera di Roma, further cementing <strong><em>Carmen<\/em><\/strong> as the defining cornerstone of her repertoire.<\/p>\n<p>A frequent guest at Op\u00e9ra National de Paris, she has starred in major roles such as Donna Elvira\u00a0(<strong><em>Don Giovanni<\/em><\/strong><em>)<\/em>, La belle Dulcin\u00e9e (<strong><em>Don Quichotte<\/em><\/strong><em>)<\/em>, the title role in\u00a0<strong><em>Giulio Cesare<\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0<strong><em>La Cenerentola<\/em><\/strong>. She is also highly associated with the Op\u00e9ra Comique where she has appeared in the title role of\u00a0<strong><em>Fantasio<\/em><\/strong> and Isolier in <strong><em>Le comte Ory<\/em><\/strong>. She debuted at the Metropolitan Opera as Cherubino in\u00a0<strong><em>Le nozze di Figaro<\/em><\/strong> and has also performed at the Vienna State Opera as Charlotte in\u00a0<strong><em>Werther<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and in the title role of Gluck\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Armide<\/em><\/strong>. The mezzo made her role and house debut at La Scala as Isabella in\u00a0<strong><em>L\u2019Italiana in Algeri<\/em><\/strong> and at Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Champs-Elys\u00e9es she has seen performances in works ranging from <strong><em>Cos\u00ec fan tutte<\/em><\/strong> to the title roles in <strong><em>Giulio Cesare<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Iphig\u00e9nie en Tauride<\/em><\/strong>. At Oper Frankfurt, she made significant role debuts including Charlotte in\u00a0<strong><em>Werther<\/em><\/strong>, Ruggiero in\u00a0<strong><em>Alcina<\/em><\/strong>, Adalgisa in\u00a0<strong><em>Norma<\/em><\/strong>, as well as in the title roles of\u00a0<strong><em>Pell\u00e9as et M\u00e9lisande<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><em>Serse<\/em><\/strong>. The mezzo-soprano made her first appearance at Op\u00e9ra de Monte-Carlo in Ravel\u2019s <strong><em>L&#8217;heure espagnole <\/em><\/strong>and <strong><em>L&#8217;Enfant et les Sortil\u00e8ges, <\/em><\/strong>in the roles of Concepci\u00f3n and L\u2019enfant respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Recent concert highlights include Chausson\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Po\u00e8me de l\u2019amour et de la mer<\/em><\/strong> with the Wiener Symphoniker, Vanina in a concert version of Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019\u00a0<strong><em>L\u2019Anc\u00eatre<\/em><\/strong> with Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo and Iphig\u00e9nie in Gluck\u2019s <strong><em>Iphig\u00e9nie en Tauride <\/em><\/strong>in a semi-staged production at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg under Thomas Hengelbrock. At the Op\u00e9ra Royal de Versailles she appeared in a concert version of H\u00e4ndel\u2019s <strong><em>Alcina<\/em><\/strong> as Ruggiero. Arquez sang the mezzo-soprano solo in Rossini&#8217;s <strong><em>Stabat Mater<\/em><\/strong> twice: at Ljubljana&#8217;s Cankarjev Dom and with the Orchestre National de Montpellier. The mezzo-soprano has been a frequent soloist with Le Cercle de l\u2019Harmonie performing solo concerts. She has worked with prestigious festivals such as The Gstaad Festival, the Mostly Mozart Festival in New-York and the Rheingau Musik Festival where she recently sang with Rolando Villaz\u00f3n under the baton of Alondra de la Parra. \u00a0Regularly performing song recitals with pianist Susan Manoff, she has been heard at Op\u00e9ra de Lille and Op\u00e9ra Comique.
